Hi there!

My name is Jane Lien. I’m a product designer with 10+ years of experience.

My project experience spans from design-led strategy to service design to digital product design. I excel at untangling complexity and systems thinking, and have a large toolbox of research methods to draw from. I’ve used these skills to help a wide range of organizations, including Fortune 500 companies, startups, and federal agencies.

One highlight from my time at USDS was being able to take my mom and partner to the West Wing of the White House

From 2021 to 2024, I was a designer at US Digital Service

I joined US Digital Service (USDS) to help deliver better services for all who call America home. Surrounded by brilliant technologists, I learned how to build trust, navigate bureaucracy, and further honed my skills in designing with inclusivity and accessibility at the forefront.

Alongside my USDS colleagues, I partnered with people at federal agencies to improve products and services at the Council on Environmental Quality, Department of Treasury, Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, Office of Management and Budget, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

One whirlwind research project brought me to five countries in one month

From 2019 to 2021, I was a Senior Service & Interaction Designer at Fjord (now Accenture Song).

At Fjord, I learned how to hit the ground running regardless of when I was brought into a project. I really appreciated my studio’s emphasis on design as a craft and bringing value to our clients.

I had the privilege of working with a diverse set of clients, including AdventHealth, Bose, General Electric, Marriott International, McKesson Corporation, Norfolk Southern, Office Depot, USAA, and Verizon.

Making a dream come true—making it to Antarctica!

My past experience also includes being a UX designer at General Motors, design mentor at ShiftUp, Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines, and design instructor at Carnegie Mellon University.

I love travel and recently took a career break traveling the world with my spouse and checking things off our bucket list. We visited family and friends and explored 23 countries (plus Antarctica!). Some of the things still on my bucket list are to swim with humpback whales and travel to the Galapagos.
